The protracted silence from this end hasn't meant anything suspicious, we've just decided to sell up and move.
Before anyone gets too excited, I should say we're only looking at moving as far as Middleton on Sea (sounds better than Bognor, doesn't it?). Unfortunately, the time is fast approaching where my Maternity leave comes to an end and I need to start thinking about the return to work. We haven't won the lottery, I didn't win a round-the-world cruise or anything significant and our finances, with all the commitments we had before we had Archie have taken a serious battering. I feel very privileged to have shared so much of his life so far and am hoping that the commute to Gatwick every day is only going to be temporary, but faced with the choice of putting him into daycare on a full-time basis or letting him be cared for by granny for a while, I have gone for the family option. Combine that with the fact that this area is getting increasingly populated by students (and that means cab doors banging right outside your window at 3am when they get back from the clubs as well as other things uncondusive to family life), Brighton has become home to most of London, who have brought their rudeness and attitude with them, and every street corner has its own little gang of "yoofs" in hoods fighting and shouting abuse at all and sundry. It's no place to bring up a child.
So, the hunt is on for a house to suit our various personal wishes:
Phil: Detached, large garden, garage.
Niki: Good sized kitchen, dining room, space for a veggie patch
Archie: Sandpit, bigger bedroom, near the beach.
Nothing has come to light so far for us, but there has already been interest in our house, which is encouraging. I'm not surprised as it's looking stunning now we've finally added the finishing touches. Phil can't wait to get out of here, but I'm going to miss the place. It was the first house I bought on my own and it's seen me though life as a newly single person, meeting Phil, changing jobs, marrying Phil and having Archie amongst other things. We have a lot of history, and we have great neighbours, so I hope it goes to a good owner.

I hope you aren't putting it on eBay! Congratulations on deciding to make the move, I think you are doing exactly the right thing and it'll be the best thing for you all as a family. Hope everything goes ok with the arrangements for Archie, Lils has adapted fairly well and I'm sure he'll be the same, he looks like not much phases him. Just remember to pack the sausage maker!
